Recovering accidentally deleted files/folders or previous versions of files on I, P, and S drives

If files or folders have been deleted off the network file storage volumes (I, P, and S drives - and a few division-specific other ones), or data within a file has been accidently overwritten (i.e. part of a document was inadvertently changed and the document was then saved), please submit a support request by submitting a ticket here or by emailing helpdesk@sog.unc.edu.

Please include:

  • the names of the file(s) or folder(s)
  • the approximate time of the deletion
  • the exact location on the volume where the file(s) or folder(s) are to be restored

If requesting to restore a previous version of a file, please indicate whether to overwrite the existing file or restore a copy to the same folder.

Given accurate information in the request, a technician should be able to restore the data shortly after acknowledging the request. Large amounts of data could take more time to restore.

Backup frequency is approximately every four hours. We will find the best backup set to use to recover your data.
