Project/Activity: Re-Envisioning the University Website participatory design case study

Description

Proceedings of World Conference on E-Learning in Corporate, Government, Healthcare, and Higher Education 2014.  In the Internet-based information society, the website is mission critical for higher education institutions: In order to enable users to access the educational resources and services the organization tries to promote, the website plays a crucial role as its digital face. In a case study approach we describe and evaluate a series of website redesign workshops that engage faculty members and other stakeholders in a creative, reflective process. At the outset of the website redesign project, we enlisted stakeholders as co-designers who helped us to formulate an organizational strategy, reach the audience effectively and design user-friendly interfaces. Our experiences indicate that the process triggered insightful and open discussions, unlocked new perspectives, allowed diverse participation with equal standing, and fostered learning of key concepts of content management systems.
